A new survey finds that U.S. farmers intend to plant more %Corn in 2025 than they did last year.

The latest Kluis/Successful Farming Planting Intentions survey found that American farmers plan to seed more corn acres this year – even more than was anticipated as recently as February of this year.

According to the survey, farmers throughout the U.S. intend to plant 95.9 million corn acres for the 2025/2026 crop year, a 6% increase from 90.6 million in 2024/2025.

The survey findings have been released about a week before the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is set to release its latest projections for the current crop year.

In February, the USDA released its “Grains and Oilseeds Outlook for 2025” that estimated the 2025/2026 corn planting at 94 million acres nationwide.

Those February projections were based on an analysis of historical data at the USDA.

On March 31, the USDA will release its more official and accurate “Prospective Plantings” report, which contains projections primarily based on survey responses from farmers.

In the Kluis/Successful Farming survey, the people surveyed said favorable growing conditions and rising demand have led them to plan for bigger crops this season.
