U.S. Gas Prices Are Back Above $4 Per Gallon

Gasoline prices at the pumps in America are back above $4 U.S. a gallon as the war in Iran continues and the Strait of Hormuz shipping route in the Middle East remains closed.

National average retail gasoline prices in America have risen more than 30% since the U.S. and Israel attacked Iran at the end of February this year.

The average ‌pump price on July 20 was $4.00 U.S. a gallon, according to data from the American Automobile Association (AAA).

The $4 U.S. per gallon mark is widely recognized as a point of financial pain for many U.S. consumers and households.

Gas prices across the U.S. had retreated in June amid a ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran. However, that ceasefire proved to be short lived.

Before the Iran war, ‌20% of global oil supplies flowed through the Strait of Hormuz.

High ‌prices at the pumps have become a political flashpoint for ‌U.S. President Donald Trump and his Republican Party, which are facing midterm congressional elections this November.

Prices of gasoline are up with crude oil marching higher. Brent crude oil, the international standard, was trading at $87.73 U.S. a barrel on July 20.
